SSX has finally arrived in HD! After a failed Wii game that nobody could figure out how to play, EA has been inspired by recent market trends and added some grit and realism to the franchise. What’s it like? A demo has just been released on PSN and Xbox Live, go download it! If you can’t be arsed, or you’re waiting for the demo to be available to Xbox Live standard members like me; then read on as Infernal Monkey shares his experience!

Infernal Monkey – it’s not bad after all that bullshit! controls feel really loose though, you can zig zag like crazy still has that SSX mental trick system, run DMC’s ‘tricky’ still kicks in when you’ve got full boost demo tracks not exactly the most exciting thing though, it’s really short

Logging into EA Origin system is a game of itself, just without the Live Achivements.
Though I imagine if that game had achievements, they would be worth 200 GP.

This is what we can expect out of EA Origin when we get our hands on a Wii U? Nintendo needs to bring back the Nintendo Seal of Quality just for the third party online infrastructures.

I really don’t understand publisher’s recent fascination with ‘reboots’. This one is the best example for two reasons:
1. SSX wasn’t an old brand to begin with. Right now in the cinemas it’s shit from the 80s and earlier getting reboots, SSX debuted on the PS2, it’s not like parents are going to buy this game for their kids based on their fond memories of SSX growing up.
2. SSX doesn’t even have a strong brand loyalty anyway. It’s just fucken snowboarding. That’s why people have the attachment to; sliding down a mountain on a plank of wood. Sure, people are probably more attached to the SSX brand than say Coolboarders or Twisted Edge snowboarding but it’s just a name. EA (or whoever) could market a game called “Shredded” as a snowboarding game and pickup the same sales.
