Notch is just another attention seeking liar

Yeah whatever the fuck you reckon Notch. You code in java and charge for games that barely exist as more than an idea in your head. As if you even know how to port your autism stimulator to Oculus Rift, let alone ever planned to. Christ, Minecraft in VR, it’d be the eternal nightmare.

An interview with the creator of Puzzle & Dragons Z

puzzleheader

Ahead of its enhanced 3DS launch next week, Japanese site GAME.Watch recently held an interview with Daisuke Yamamoto, producer of the moderately successful mobile title Puzzle & Dragons. Described by leading shampoo scientists as an ineffective cure for dandruff, the free-to-play iOS/Android release has become the highest grossing app of all time, earning roughly 35 cents for developer GungHo Entertainment.

Puzzle & Dragons Z for the 3DS looks to expand upon the game’s addictive hybrid of match-three puzzle/RPG gameplay with a greater focus on its story mode. There’s also some new and exclusive monster designs for Pixiv fanart-fuel. Plus, the fact that it’s now a full price (¥ 4,400) packaged release results in less intrusive in-app purchases. Players can now access the title screen without having to pay off an additional home loan, for example.

Below is a faithful English translation of the interview. Continue reading “An interview with the creator of Puzzle & Dragons Z”

Unboxing this Xmas’ hot new gaming machine

Because I possess future sight, I can tell you precisely which hot new gaming machine will sell the most units this holiday shopping period. Not wanting to be stuck with one of the loser consoles I made sure I got on the bandwagon early and recorded the special moment so we can all share it together forever. That’s what unboxing videos are all about right?

I am always right.

Just dropping by real quick because look what happened to Takedown.
takedown's metascore; 27
Remember that time I warned that this game would be terrible and that I wish it failed? It was the time I said exactly that and then the developers, along with their little troupe of fans, came in to defend them. Guess they had good reason to be defensive? Of course I haven’t played it myself, I’ve been busy playing a quality Kickstarter game by the name Shadowrun. But wow, 27? I didn’t know IGN scored that low.

SEGA Bought Atlus – What The Hell? Seriously What The Hell?

By now this news is kind of old but SEGA has purchased Atlus’ troubled owners Index Corp. Atlus’ well-being was a big concern for many people though most people pinned Nintendo as the company who would buy them since a) they made a few high quality 3DS titles and b) they are making Fire Emblem X Shin Megami Tensei for WiiU. So the question is… is this a good thing?

Considering the company in question that now owns it, the answer from me is a flat “no”.

Tutorials, are you too stupid for them?

I’m 12 hours into Mario & Luigi: Dream Team and the tutorial complaints have been lost in the wind somewhere. A small batcave of manchildren on the internet has been raging about how things are explained too in-depth with endless text, much to the burden of their active lifestyles. Many reviews have also docked the game for this apparent intrusion of text in an RPG. I recently finished Bowser’s Inside Story just before playing this game, and I can say for a fact that Dream Team is flowing much smoother, like a dream is supposed to. The new concepts are easy to grasp, the gameplay is more interactive and it’s a much better designed game all round. The only difference is people complain more in 2013 than 2009.

Depressing Realities Surrounding Developer Closures

Around late 2011, Pietriots member Deguello did a written piece on people wanting Nintendo to go third party and why such a thing would do more harm than good. Even today, it still speaks volumes because lately everyone is pinning Nintendo as doomed because the WiiU isn’t selling X amount of units. The same thing happened with 3DS. While I can easily point out the issue (IE Third Parties making excuses…again, people not being early adopters), developers and their publishers seem to be under this boggling mind-set that Nintendo is not worth it and the Next-Gen systems Xbox One and PS4 will be better suited for them. Realism – How much is it worth?

Gran Turismo 6 is out later this year, and it’ll arrive a full 3 years after Gran Turismo 5. I am excited about playing the game with the new physics revamp, but can’t help but feel flat about the lack of new tracks to drive on. Polyphony are making a big deal about having 5 new tracks in the game. Yes five. Why does it take them so long? Because they scan the track and gather shitloads of data making sure it’s an accurate representation. Admirable attention to detail, but in my opinion it’s seriously holding back the gameplay experience.
